Can't access Windows 10 Jellyfin server from Windows 10 client. - Lylat1an - 2024-08-02

I've set up a new Windows 10 computer to act as a Jellyfin server.  (I used the Stable .exe installer)

However, I'm unable to log into the new installation from another Windows 10 client on the same network.

I'm able to successfully ping the server's IP address and tracert works too.

I checked Windows' firewall and it has green allowances for Jellyfin.

What else might I try to fix this?

How are you trying to access it via a browser or desktop client? What are you entering in for the server address to access it?
Just noticed that the server keeps on restarting. Has it been stable when you access it?

Hello.

I'm trying to access the server though Firefox by typing the IP address followed by ":8096"

I know the IP address is correct because I can control the server remotely via TightVNC.

I'm pretty sure the restarts were manual as I attempted to troubleshoot on my own.

Not sure if they are your restarts. I don't see the shutdown messages in the log.

On the server click Start > type Resource Monitor > click on the Network tab > expand the listening ports table.

Find jellyfin.exe on port 8096. What does it say in the Firewall Status column? Should be "Allow, not restricted" (unrestricted?).

Local or public IP? Local will be something like 192.168.1.10. If you're accessing it using the remote ip, you would also need to configure port forwarding on the router.
