First Time User looking for Help connecting to NAS from Google TV - Albyzz - 2024-08-18

Hi All. Before I go on, I have searched for similar threads and tried to apply some of the suggestions to no avail.

I have just upgraded my TV to a Brand New TCL TV running Google TV. This replaced an old Panasonic semi-smart unit which was connected to the NAS via ethernet and streamed my content generally no issues.

When I setup the new TV last week and connected to the network, it detected my NAS straight up and using the basic built-in Media Player, I had no issue with streaming my content right out of the box. Yay!

I have since fallen down the rabbit hole of Media Servers (Stremio/Kodi/Plex/Jellyfin) and started off with Plex. Installation went smooth, detected NAS no issues and runs beautifully. However I really only need to manage my own content and not interested in all the bloat. That's when I stumbled on Jellyfin which looks like it would be perfect.

I installed the app on my NAS just as I did with Plex. Added folders, detected my media and I was good server-side. Installed the app on my TV without issue, but for the life of me the TV cannot locate the server. I added the DLNA plug-in just to be sure, checked the access permissions on the NAS and all good and included the TV IP in the firewall trust settings. Tried manually entering the NAS IP (static 192.168.20.10) or network name (//asustor) and still nothing.

I am not a network engineer, however I am not a total noob either. But I am desperately seeking help as to what I can possibly try next. Some details of my setup as follows:

- Brand New 2024 TCL 85" GoogleTV updated to most recent OS connected to home network via Ethernet. Downloaded latst version Jellyfin from GoogleTV Playstore yesterday.
- Asustor AS4002T NAS updated to latest version OS
- Jellyfin 10.9.9 App loaded to NAS incl. DLNA Plugin. Server address settings standard 8096/8920 unchanged. "Allow remote connections on this server ticked".
- LAN side firewall is disabled

If I have forgotten any detail, please let me know. TIA.

How did you install it on your NAS? Do you know if the, I'm assuming, container is running with host networking or with bridge networking?

NAS has a useful OS/Dashboard with ability to load and configure apps/plugins as per the screenshot. Not sure, but I think it is setup as host?

Can you get the jellyfin logs and share them via pastebin?

Hope I done this right! https://pastebin.com/6QmN7XX4

I have removed all the media encoding/metadata info as I assume that is pointless.

Your container is using bridge networking.

Code:
[2024-08-17 03:19:08.639 +00:00] [INF] [4] Jellyfin.Networking.Manager.NetworkManager: Filtered interface addresses: ["127.0.0.1", "172.17.0.2"]

You can try using http://172.17.0.2:8096 or figure out a way to switch the networking mode to host. I'm not familiar with Asustor's UI.

Enter this address for the login:

http://192.168.20.10:28096

The default web UI mapping port are changed to 28096 (HTTP) and (28920) from 10.9.8.r01, since DLNA is not default supported anymore from Jellyfin 10.9.0, we can use network bridge for this container.

Source

Not sure if that means the host ports are changed or just docker, but it's worth a try.

Thank you, this worked!
