Feel free to laugh. I have nuked my whole media library over an amazon firestick! LOL
I set Tdarr loose on downmixing all my surround tracks to stereo so that it would work with a multitude of devices.
As it turns out my TV (trust me I have played with the settings) somehow just refuses to do stereo in jellyfin.
Every other device works. Headphones works.
But my LG C3, I guess the 2.2 speakers are not just a marketing term for "stereo" and indeed there is something happening with the audio.
What is curious is if I put the quality right down to something stupidly low 720p 8mbps say on a 4k file. It works just fine, so transcoding works ok!
But direct play or even a transcode from 4k to 1080p does not work. It leaves me with huge "gaps" in the audio. Almost like clipping but sounds absolutely fine through
other devices and headphones, maybe a tad of quality loss on some files.
I transcoded on the CPU too thinking this would be more reliable. Im at a loss as to what would cause this. Its not a missing channel.
The only thing I can think is something to do with dynamic range. Or the compression, but then why would it work on my mobile phone! Or PC monitor.

So the Firestick is playing the files and not WebOS on the TV?
Can you try setting the audio to "downmix to stereo"? In the Jellyfin app on the Firestick click on the gear in the top right, Playback > Audio output. It is probably "direct" right now. Switch to "downmix to stereo" even though your audio is stereo already.

It is already on that option I am afraid! As previously it required down mixing to stereo. Hence why I have gone about altering my entire library to stereo.
Works fine on there with either setting, mobile works ok, my desktop through web browser works too. Just my non firestick TV being WebOS (LG) with this problem.
Previously other than desktop computers this TV was the best device I had my hands on, it direct played most things! So I find it odd its struggling with stereo.
Im searching through logs in tdarr and just double checking exactly what it has done. But it doesnt seem like its missing a channel or anything. The audio just cuts completely in and out.
Almost like having a dodgy aux cable or something, but a clean, in and out.

I've jumped too early on the TV being problematic. Jellyfin is fine.
As im going through the list of content I can see that before around 12am all content is broken, after that time, working.
Must have been some sort of hardware fault, drive issue or something thats caused problems with the transcode in tdarr.
Im not too fussed about rebuilding media to be honest 1.) its only a few terrabytes, 2.) its nothing precious just movies.
So clearly something Tdarr side as opposed to any configuration jellyfin / on my telly. Il consider this sorted and just rebuild I think
