Renamed Seasons Don't Stay Renamed - KodiUser1138 - 2024-08-31 I manage 2 instances of Jellyfin, both almost identical. Recently discovered you can rename TV Show Season from the standard Season 1, 2, 3 etc and took advantage to rename a few TV Show seasons like Spartacus. This looks pretty cool in the library but my main reason for doing this is for my AEW PPV library. I've created a specific "TV Show" for all AEW PPV events and use a new season for each event with generally 2 episodes, 1 being the pre-show and 2 being the main show. Looking at the overall season view listing and seeing Season 1 Season 2 Season 28 looks funny, even though each season poster is the main poster for that specific event. That is where I found renaming would make it look awesome. However I've run into an issue. On the JF server I maintain for my buddy all the renamed seasons stay renamed, hasn't seemed to be any issue. I can verify by accessing his server through different browsers, apps and so on. All the seasons remain renamed. On my server this is not the case. I have renamed all the season now at least 3 times, and at some point all of the season are eventually reverted back to the standard Season X name. I can't understand what is happening. I've tried renaming one season and then refreshing my browser and letting JF sit and hopefully save, I've batch renamed everything in one go, nothing seems to stick. Elsewhere my Spartacus seasons remain renamed so I know my server is allowing this to occur. One thing I just thought of while typing all this out is my server is running JF 10.9.3 while I haven't updated my buddy's server from 10.9.1 yet, could that be the issue? Some new bug introduced? But then that doesn't make sense why Spartacus and Fargo rename renamed and only the AEW PPVs have changed. So I am at a loss. Some new bug introduced?Update to the current latest version. There was a bug in a few of the early releases for v10.9 where custom season names were revereted/lost. Your buddy's release is unaffected because that bug wasn't introduced yet. I went through the same issue which has since been fixed (forgot with which exact release). Also, if you weren't aware of how you keep losing the custom names, it happens on a rescan. As long as you don't cause any sort of manual/automatic rescan on items where you changed the season names, your custom season names will remain. Fix this by upgrading your server. Waiting for Collections to work as they used to so I don't lose everything again and can easily make updates to them as needed without having tto go through almost 300 collections and guess what's gone missing. At least I know I'm not going bonkers wondering WTF is happening. RE: Renamed Seasons Don't Stay Renamed - KodiUser1138 - 2024-09-02 After my last go-through of renaming all the season, even after multiple rescans and page refreshes, things seem to be sticking. Though there hasn't been any other change to this particular "series" so I guess time will still tell. RE: Renamed Seasons Don't Stay Renamed - KodiUser1138 - 2024-09-11 Just went through a databse rebuild for other reasons and had to redo the renaming but things seem to be sticking now. Hopefully that stays. But also discovered an unforseen result. I use Kodi as a client for my TV setups and these renamed seasons have those names pushed forward to Kodi. That is freaking cool! RE: Renamed Seasons Don't Stay Renamed - KodiUser1138 - 2024-12-20 Bumping this because I am curious if there is a way to use metadata in media NFO to save season names that can be easily scraped in the event a database goes kaput (like mine just did). Hoping to make life a little bit easier. |
