Media identification - hellcat5011 - 2024-09-01 Hi all, I am very new to this and I have just setup my first media server and I installed Jelly Fin, new to Linux as a whole. I am having a few issues with media recognition within the libraries I have setup and I have tried troubleshooting this to the best of my abilities using this forum and the docs I found on the website, but the issues still persist and frustratingly, the errors aren't consistent and it's just throwing me for a loop. Here's what I'm facing: 1) When I sync the libraries, the media is not being recognised. I can only find one show appearing on the tab but I've got 5 shows that are missing from the list. 2) The show that appears on the tab is not always consistent. For ex: when I click on the library I can see the show 'Bleach' appearing, but on the home page and under recently added I can see 'Naruto' which is completely missing from the library when I go in there. However, when I login on Swiftfin, I can see a completely different show in the library. (I know this may be a little hard to follow, it was for me at least. I have attached screenshots to clarify what I'm on about) 3) When I click on the show it does not give me any details for the show and it shows an empty screen with just the title and all episodes missing. But, when I move to the episodes tab within the library I can find some of the episodes showing there. 4) When I try to play an episode from the 'Episodes' tab, the video plays for the first time and in doing so once I back out of that page, it reveals the next episode from the show and I can then play that, but if I try going back to the episode that was already played then I get a playback error. Also, each time I play an episode, I only get the next episode to show within the list, nothing more, nothing less. (I've also attached screenshots for this) At one point I could see all the episodes under the 'Episodes' tab, even though I couldn't play them because of the playback error. This has since gone as well after I tried reinstalling the app. 5) Unable to login to the opensubtitles plugin (it just keeps loading forever) What I've tried so far: 1) Uninstall and reinstall the app (Turning it off and on again ) 2) Changing the folder and file names to comply with the docs provided on the site and the forum, ex: S01E01. 3) Refreshing and even replacing metadata entirely (I read this helped a few people on the forum) 4) Trying to manually identify the show using the IMDB database. 5) Banging my head against a wall. The annoying part is that these folders and files are being recognised perfectly on both Plex and Emby, but I would much rather use Jelly Fin and hence haven't given up trying. If I'm missing something or doing something wrong please let me know, I would really love to get this up and running. These are the screenshots for the episodes page. This is where I get fed one episode each time I play an episode. The last attachment is after I played the 3rd episode and backed out and then went back into the episodes tab again. RE: Media identification - hellcat5011 - 2024-09-01 Sorry, also forgot to add: I have tried checking the permissions on the folders as one post suggested, I have added myself and Jellyfin to a local group and set the permissions for the owner/group for the folders under myself and the 'mediaserver' group. I have also set the permissions for the folder to 775, I also tried setting permissions to 777 but that didn't help either. RE: Media identification - TheDreadPirate - 2024-09-01 Can you share your Jellyfin logs via pastebin? Also, read my Linux permissions primer. https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-mounting-local-storage-in-linux-linux-permissions-primer?pid=34768#pid34768 RE: Media identification - hellcat5011 - 2024-09-02 Hi, Thank you for responding. Here's the link for the logs: https://pastebin.com/hsdMdT8A RE: Media identification - hellcat5011 - 2024-09-02 Hi, I just went through the link that you had shared and compared my folder permissions alongside and I noticed a few irregularities within the ownership of some of the sub-directories. I have since corrected these and restarted the Jellyfin service and I am still unable to view all the shows or movies on the app. I still also get the same 'Playback error' when I try to play an episode. Although, since the time I have changed the permissions I can see the episodes from one of the other shows reflecting under the 'episodes' tab, even if I can't play them due to the error message. It still does not reflect when I click on the library and I have to move to the episodes tab to see the videos. I have also uninstalled opensubtitles plugin for now, I can reinstall it once this is up and running. Here's the new logs, not sure if this is any different: https://pastebin.com/HaFWCPUS RE: Media identification - TheDreadPirate - 2024-09-02 Don't use Anilist as your metadata provider. Looks like its your only enabled provider?. I've found that it doesn't work very well with Jellyfin. Use AniDB or TMDB (I use TMDB). RE: Media identification - hellcat5011 - 2024-09-02 I just tried this once again and I've uninstalled AniList and downloaded both TMBD (unable to find this option under the edit library tab to select for fetching metadata, not sure if additional setup is required as it just keeps loading) and AniDB, but the results are still the same. Unfortunately I'm only able to see one show within the library, which is also not loading any episodes. Weirdly, even though it shows the tile for one of the shows, iot still displays 0-0 of 0 on the top. I've attached a screenshot for the same. The episodes tab shows 'Solo Leveling' episodes (https://imgur.com/a/pqyxXj8) but none of them actually play and the show is not seen within the library as seen in the screenshot. RE: Media identification - hellcat5011 - 2024-09-02 Also, I have just noticed this. When I check the metadata tab on the portal, all my folders and movies are seen and it has managed to pull the AniDB ID for all of the series and most of the movies. These shows or movies are however not reflecting within the libraries on the portal. RE: Media identification - TheDreadPirate - 2024-09-02 What TMDB plugin did you download? The plain TMDB plugin comes with Jellyfin and can't be removed. You just need to make sure that it is enabled in your library settings and is the primary provider. There is a TMDB BOX SET plugin that you can install, but does something completely different. If you don't use collections you should remove the box set plugin. RE: Media identification - hellcat5011 - 2024-09-03 I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO FIX IT!!!! Solution: I uninstalled TMDB Box set, and I made TMDB the primary but I noticed metadata was not being captured not matter how many times I try. I then tried to visit TMBD directly and try to identify a show to see if it works and that's when I came upon this: TMBD is blocked in India and different ISPs enforce this differently and my ISP (Reliance Jio) has blocked it outright. This was causing the issues with the shows. Once I saw this I disabled TMDB from the metadata providers and selected AniDB as the first and then embedded title and images second and this has seemed to resolve my issues. It also helped that I corrected the directory permissions based on your link yesterday ( ) Thanks a lot for your help, now I can finally use Jellyfin and ditch the other platforms. |
