Hi How to setup for of site access with synology - Kaizoku001 - 2024-09-04

Hi
I'm kind of new at this. Appreciate any help you can give.

I just installed Jellyfin on Synology 923+ 7.2

I was wondering what I need to do to access outside the network?

I found this on the web:
http://SERVER_IP:8096

But since my nas uses a local ip, I don't see how that could work.

Any help is appreciated.

*** edit***. Just realized. title should be "off-site"

The most simplest secure way of doing so on your DS923+ is to install Tailscale on it.

Tailscale is a simple to use mesh-vpn service. As long as all your other clients can install the Tailscale app, you can access the server on the NAS from anywhere with an internet connection.
