Incompatibility between available client and server versions - RexLuscus - 2024-09-06

My Sony Bravia Android TV updated its client version of Jellyfin to 10.9.1, since when it will not connect to my Raspberry Pi server running Server 10.8.13 on Raspbian Buster. Jellyfin Server 10.9.1 is not available on the repository for Raspbian. I understand that 10.9.x is not compatible with 10.8.x servers, and that Debian-based repositories are always behind the curve on Linux app updates, but is there any practical solution to this? Of course I can watch/ listen through a browser interface, though there are of course drawbacks when transcoding - I might as well use Kodi. I'm not really keen to sideload a downgraded version of the Jellyfin client on my TV.

Is there a way to upgrade to server 10.9.1 on Raspbian Buster, and which flavour of Server (ARM64 or ARM) is appropriate?

edit: if I upgrade to Raspbian Bookworm, is jellyfin Server 10.9.1 available in apt repository?

Debian Buster (10) is EOL and we don't have builds of 10.9.X for that version. You need to upgrade to Bullseye (11) or Bookworm (12).
