Headless with HW acceleration - unmesh59 - 2024-09-08 I'm looking to use Jellyfin hardware acceleration on a 1L mini Intel PC running Ubuntu where the 8th generation CPU supports Quick Sync but where there will not be a monitor attached. I will use an SSH terminal or Remote Desktop to administer the box. As per the following web page, Plex needs a monitor or a so-called dummy plug to turn on hardware acceleration of encoding/decoding. https://forums.serverbuilds.net/t/guide-hardware-transcoding-the-jdm-way-quicksync-and-nvenc/1408/2 Is that a hardware requirement and therefore true for Jellyfin too? Thanks RE: Headless with HW acceleration - Artemis - 2024-09-08 No, not necessary. You could enable QuickSync support via the Admin Dashboard form the Jellyfin Web UI. This is the standard way to enable transcoding irrespective of OS. RE: Headless with HW acceleration - nyanmisaka - 2024-09-08 Yes, it supports headless mode. You can find it in the documentation. https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/administration/hardware-acceleration/intel/#acceleration-methods RE: Headless with HW acceleration - unmesh59 - 2024-09-08 Thanks, guys! I don't know how I missed the info on headless operation support. |
