HDR Content on Android App - therealgamer9982 - 2024-09-09

Hello, I have been trying to watch my 4k HDR content off of the Jellyfin app on Android, but it just looks really desaturated. On Findroid it looks fine, so I would use that, except for the fact that it doesn't have any quality settings, and therefore stutters so much on my device. How could I fix this?

Do you have tone mapping enabled? And which player are you using in Jellyfin? Integrated or web player?

For Findroid, are you using MPV or exoplayer?

I do have tone mapping enabled. I am using the integrated player. For findroid I am using MPV.

There is a good image, so colorful and so much better than the other thing.

Now looking at the bad image, the colors are almost completely muted and it sucks.

What are you hardware specs? Can you share your jellyfin logs via pastebin? And ffmpeg logs.

Findroid w/MPV will locally tone map. What kind of HDR is this? Exoplayer in Jellyfin should be able to handle some HDR types. And what kind of phone do you have?

Unfortunately, I am out right now so the logs won't be available until later, but my hardware is a Ryzen 7 with 32 GB of DDR4 RAM and a RX 6700xt for my graphics card. I also am using both a SSD and a HDD. Findroid with mpv does locally tone map, however there is no quality settings, and playing 4k full on the go isn't really a viable option. I also am using a Samsung S23+.

Update: I am a idiot. I thought that you just click a button for hardware acceleration when you actually have to do a whole thing in the Linux terminal...

I apologize for possibly wasting your time.

Or I wasn't an idiot because it still doesn't want to work.

Here is the pastebin for my log: https://pastebin.com/1TV4NUTk
I dont know where to find the FFMPEG Log.
Its also giving me the error of: 15:51:00] [WRN] [1] MediaBrowser.MediaEncoding.Encoder.MediaEncoder: Filter: tonemap_cuda with option GPU accelerated HDR to SDR tonemapping is not available

The log you shared doesn't appear to contain any playback attempts. Replicate the problem and re-share your log.

Huh... there appears to be no change?

Yep. Nothing changed in your log.
