Possibly switching from Plex - WoodroweBones - 2024-09-17 I've been messing around with Jellyfin a bit. I'm liking it a lot. The biggest thing I'm missing compared to Plex is how account setups work. With Plex its nice because I can invite others and they can sign in and will only see their account. It seems with Jellyfin that if I make an account that isnt hidden, it means any user who accesses my Jellyfin will see all of those accounts. Is there another way to do this? I can see that if I possibly hide the accounts but the person logs in, it should then stick around and be visible on their screen? The only issue with this is having to have full fledged passwords for each account. PIN option would be nice once the account is logged in. I'll keep playing with it. If I can find out a nice way to do the above I will probably switch! RE: Possibly switching from Plex - TheDreadPirate - 2024-09-17 You should hide all users from the login screen, IMO. But if a users is still visible after hiding it, that is probably browser/app caching. Ctrl+F5 should fully reload the page and hidden users should no longer be visible. RE: Possibly switching from Plex - WoodroweBones - 2024-09-17 Yeah I mean thats the smart way to go. It just makes it a huge pain to switch between profiles. For example in my house currently on Plex I have accounts for myself, my wife and both kids. So that they can have their own tracked episodes, etc. Switching between profiles is super easy. If I have to hide all accounts and my kids have to type in a username and password every time they want to switch to their profile its super cumbersome/annoying (my youngest wouldnt even try I'm sure... it was a chore getting her to click her big icon). And then if I want to switch back after the kids or my wife were on it, I have to either do quick connect which requires multiple devices or I have to type in a username/password using the onscreen keyboard (talking most about CCGTV). I dont think I can give up that amount of convenience RE: Possibly switching from Plex - thornbill - 2024-09-17 The Android TV app supports switching between users that have previously logged in without needing to login again. Ah ok so that was what I was witnessing. So if it can do that while the users are still hidden from a normal login that is likely the answer! Thanks! |
