Green tint on some movies - scdouglas - 2024-09-22

So this issue cropped up a bit ago (not sure exactly when but no long ago) and it's been driving me crazy. Some movies (I think it's an HDR issue) will display a clear tint, usually in darker scenes, such as the one below. This didn't happen in older versions of jellyfin so I'm not sure what changed, and I've double checked my transcoding settings to make sure I don't have any incompatible settings enabled. I'm on dual Xeon e5-2697 v4 CPUs with a GTX 1080. Logs don't have anything on them I can see in terms of errors or issues, and the movies seem to play fine, just something in the chain isn't handing off the HDR color information correctly I think. This issue does not appear when I play it locally on VLC, which leads me to believe this is a jellyfin player issue. Lastly, this issue is only happening on the two OLED screens in my house, as well as any device connected to an Nvidia shield, chromecast devices look fine. The screenshot is slightly exaggerated for some reason snipping tool made it a little greener than it looks in person, but you get the idea. Let me know if I can add any further information to help.

What codec is the video encoded with? Can you show us the media info from the Jellyfin UI? If there are any ffmpeg logs for this video, can you share those via pastebin?

It's an HEVC H265, HDR10+ file. Jellyfin UI screenshot is below with similar info. I just started it up to play it, confirmed it was green, and closed, so that's what the log is showing here. Nothing looks strange to me in it, but if there are other logs available I'm missing let me know. I've also included a transcode log from last night, a new one doesn't seem to have been created just now though.

Let me know if anything is broken. Thanks

What driver version are you running?

Apologies for the long response time, the server started having some issues crashing (solved) and I was away for a day. I assume by driver version you mean which nvidia drivers I'm running right now? That'd be the latest drivers, version 561.09. I did have to update from quite an old driver recently but that hasn't made any difference. I just don't know why the chromecast with google tv 4k would not have this issue but my shield devices and my OLED monitors do.

Can you share screenshots of Dashboard > Playback?

Of course, for all the other tabs the settings are default, I haven't touched anything in resume, streaming etc.:

It looks like several tone mapping settings were altered.

- Set the tone mapping algorithm back to BT2390
- Set tone mapping desat back to 0
- Remove 0.3 from tone mapping param and leave it blank

Changed all those back and restarted the server, still looking green on my OLED.

You shouldn't need to restart, just remember to scroll allllllll the way down and save.

Can you share the latest ffmpeg log?
