improved library scanning? - ototos - 2024-09-23 Hi everyone, unfortunately it's been over 6 months since I abandoned Jellyfin. For the following reasons. 1. Problems with SDR (fake HDR), unfortunately dead colors for those without GPUs. 2. Scanning the library and titles. He didn't recognize many titles and many others were duplicates because they were of different resolution but with similar titles. Alas on plex it works well, but with jellyfin I have always had enormous problems. Plus I also have a disc mounted with one of my debrids and as you well know the titles are always written a bit haphazardly, but it was never able to associate correctly, forcing me to do it manually. 3. Has the client for Android TV / Google TV improved? Now the skip intro button appears? appears goes to the next episode? any buttons similar to netflix or primevideo? I think we should focus everything on these clients, because they are the most used. I wanted to know about these three points, has anything improved? Is there a solution? Will it be fixed soon? Then a personal curiosity. Will it ever be possible to have a Netflix-like style for web clients and Android/Google clients? including daily suggestions? I have over 3000 films and 800 TV series, which I update every day, I would like to have some suggestions, I would like to be able to immerse myself in my on-demand system as best as possible. Thank you so much. RE: improved library scanning? - TheDreadPirate - 2024-09-23 1. "Fake HDR" was never a thing. If you client supported the kind of HDR in your file it would play it as actual HDR. But clients that didn't support HDR, or the kind of HDR, in the file needed tone mapping to SDR. CPU tone mapping is coming in 10.10. HDR to SDR will no longer be exclusive to GPUs. BUT you will need a pretty capable CPU to tone map in software. 2. "Versions" of a movie/show has been supported for a long time if you named the files according to our documentation. https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/movies/#multiple-versions-of-a-movie Movies were a bit easier, but shows had the functionality, too. Yes, the Jellyfin file/folder name parser isn't as good as Plex. Our naming requirements are documented. If you don't have control of the file naming, there's not much we can do. 3. Intro skipper was jellyfin-web only, since it modified jelly-web. Native clients, like our Android TV app, won't be able to make use of that. 10.10 is adding a capability called "Media Segments" which will enable all client types to support intro/outro skipper like functionality. I don't know the status on incorporating that functionality into the clients. AFAIK, there are no plans to add a "suggestions" type functionality. That kind of functionality is counter to Jellyfin's design philosophy. RE: improved library scanning? - ototos - 2024-09-25 (2024-09-23, 05:46 PM)TheDreadPirate Wrote: 1. Even in the future... It's really very important... I see in many other forums and reddit posts that users have this difficulty for those who use realdebrid. 3. But won't they implement a button to skip intro or skip credits? Will it always be necessary to use an external plugin? Which doesn't mean you'll be supported forever. RE: improved library scanning? - TheDreadPirate - 2024-09-25 10.10 is currently scheduled for Oct 12, barring any show stopping bugs discovered between now and then. https://jellyfin.org/posts/release-roadmap-10.10.0 Can't really do much if you don't control the media. Each client has to implement media segments. But my understanding is that it is planned for each client. It's really sad to see TV series like this. With Plex this problem doesn't exist (it happens every now and then, it's not immune to errors), but Jellyfin really needs to improve on this side, or make it dynamic based on how you want to rename the contents or the folder structure. For hundreds of users like me, there is no solution, either you do it manually, or you give up. Even a plugin would be good, anything that improves this experience, for those who can't change the structure. :-( |
