Intel i9-9900k
32gb ddr4 ram 2666
sparkle intel arc a770 oc
windows 11 pro

I get 100% cpu usage with ffmpeg even though I have hardware acceleration turned on in the form of QSV, I triple checked all drivers and made sure everything is up to date, attached are some images of some of my settings.

any help in this area is GREATLY appreciated

Can you share your ffmpeg logs?

Also do the following.

Uncheck VP8 - Not supported by Arc
Uncheck VC1 - Not supported by Arc
Check Prefer OS Native DXVA
Check VPP tone mapping
Check tone mapping
Reboot and go into your BIOS and disable the iGPU

dang, I was under the impression that the a770 was the one gpu that supported av1, at least that's what it says in intels documentation, will turn it off, at this point, what do I have to lose? igpu has been disabled, I double checked to make sure and it was, going to have to figure out a way to post the log that doesn't create a page longer than most elder scrolls

RE: jellyfin cpu issues - TheDreadPirate - 2024-09-28

It does support AV1. I said to turn off the iGPU. The one built into your CPU. Not the Arc GPU.

RE: jellyfin cpu issues - justtrife - 2024-09-28

forgive my mistake, it wasn't av1 you said to disable, and we must have a miscommunication as I stated the igpu is turned off and double checked this fact, so forgive me if I'm confused about where you're coming from

RE: jellyfin cpu issues - TheDreadPirate - 2024-09-28

First thing you need to do is going into your computer's BIOS and disable the integrated GPU. The one in the CPU. There should be an option to prioritize the dedicated GPU. This varies from motherboard to motherboard so I can't give exact instructions.

The reason for doing this is because the Intel Quick Sync driver will always pick the first available GPU, which is usually the integrated GPU instead of the Arc GPU.

... are you not reading my replies?  I already disabled the igpu in bios, I double checked the bios to make sure the igpu is disabled, I'm not sure why you keep mentioning that when I've stated 2 times in 2 separate threads on this very post  that I already disabled the igpu in bios... where is the disconnect happening?

RE: jellyfin cpu issues - TheDreadPirate - 2024-09-28

My bad. Too many threads going on. Also, lose the attitude. People make mistakes.

Share your ffmpeg log via pastebin.
