Adjusting scanning priority - karim.ratib - 2024-10-10 Hello, absolute n00b here, recently moved from Plex and running Jellyfin on Synology DSM. When I tried to add a multi-TB music folder to the library, Jellyfin hogged the server resources for more than 12 hours. I had to kill the Docker container and reinstall from scratch because it had become unresponsive, and the whole server was sluggish too. I am wondering if there's an existing way to set the scanning "niceness" (a Unix term that means how much OS resources the scanning process is given) ? I don't mind the scanning to go on for days, but I do mind that the server suffers through it. Thanks! RE: Adjusting scanning priority - TheDreadPirate - 2024-10-10 Dashboard > General. Set "Parallel library scan tasks limit" and "Parallel image encoding limit" to something other than zero. The default behavior is to spawn 2x the number of threads on your CPU. So a 4 core, 8 thread CPU would spawn 16 scan processes for example. RE: Adjusting scanning priority - karim.ratib - 2024-10-11 Thank you, this worked like a charm. It will take a few days to scan the full thing, but I'm not in a hurry as long as the server doesn't complain. |
