associating is always difficult - ototos - 2024-10-12

friends of jellyfin, there is nothing to do... this integration and association of contents.
It really needs to be improved...
I set up really trivial Titles, yet it still has difficulties, I can't change everything and risk other media servers having problems too.
We really need to work on it...

etc.etc..

In short, the contents are detected but as if they were two different things... they should be united...
now everyone accepts extras among those leaving []

Guys jellyfin is an excellent player, but now the whole client and integration side needs to be improved, I'm not interested in decoding the 8k super mega ultra hdr, I'm interested in browsing my library, having happiness in finding my contents, and getting daily suggestions .
This would improve jellyfin so much and make it more appealing to those who are sceptical.

It looks like you have all of your movies in a "Films" directory.  For the "versions" function to work your movies NEED to be in a folder.  Folders for movies is optional, in general.  But for "versions" to work it is NOT optional.

Code:
Anime Movies
├── 5 Centimeters per Second (2007) [tmdbid-38142]
│   ├── 5 Centimeters per Second (2007) [tmdbid-38142] - DTS Audio.mkv
│   ├── 5 Centimeters per Second (2007) [tmdbid-38142] - OPUS Audio.mkv

And the file name before the "version" needs to be the same as the folder name.

it's a little wrong.

should associate the contents with the TITLE, everything written between the [] is more and should be associated with the TITLE of the content, whether or not it is in a sub-folder.

This thing needs to be improved, the other media servers read this structure perfectly, this is what I'm saying, which needs to be taken a bit from others.
It would be much better...

And believe me... I have hundreds of content in seedbox that Plex reads perfectly, but Jellyfin creates a mess, FORCING ME to use Plex.

A custom system must be created, or it must be improved... for me it must only detect the title of the content and associate it with tmdb or tvdb or imdb etc...
and if there are the same titles but with additions, we don't care... the important thing is the title!

I would add that I prefer to create folders for collections, I don't want to have folders for hundreds of films, just because I have different versions

You can justify the situation to me however you want...
but the association system seems really stupid to me.
come on... it's simpler than that..
Please in the next version, do something...
improve the integration before I add another 50 TB of content...
For now I'm stuck at 1TB...
