Automatically detect changes in libraries - B C - 2024-10-15

So I am pretty sure this isn't a jellyfin issue, but want to inquire anyway.  I am looking at simplifying my home setup, I current run unraid and it's great, but, no docker apps (I've tried plex, emby and jellyfin) seem to auto detect changes in libraries.

I fired up a windows VM and they all work in there ok, but I would love to stick with unraid if possible.

Any ideas what I can look for or do to get auto detect to work?

Thanks in advance.

Are you using something like SMB to connect the media to Jellyfin?

No, unraid has a drive array and cache pools, all through /mnt. It's all local on the same server.   But my guess is it's a linux issue as the other media servers don't auto detect changes either.

Now I am even more confused. I fired up Windows 11, install the jellyfin server, scanned my music library, moved all the music to another folder, all the artists/metadata is still showing in jellyfin, even though the music has been removed. Even after requesting a library scan.

I deleted the library and readded the empty music folder and tried moving an artist folder into it, still waiting for it to auto detect, but it isn't.

This might be a question that is better asked on the unRAID forum. I'm not seeing a clear answer regarding whether unRAID supports inotify (what enables real time monitoring).
