Roku Default Audio Issue? - gqneumann - 2023-08-31 I noticed on Roku, the Default audio tracks aren't being used as default. It seems to default to using whatever is Track 1 (the first audio track). So if Track 2 is The Default, it still plays the Track 1 Audio. I know through the web client, audio is set to always play the default audio but I'm assuming that doesn't effect Roku? Is there a reason why the Roku app keeps using Track 1 or is it not capable of using the default track automatically? Maybe Someone can confirm theirs properly uses the default Audio when the default audio is not in position track 01, that way I know if it's only me or not haha. I came across this since I have shows with Japanese and English Audio, and instead of using the one I have set as default, It goes to whichever one was encoded as Track 1. I don't have any problems with Subtitles. Its uses the default subtitle regardless of track order. So I would assume Audio should work the same right? I only have the problem on the Roku apps, and tried it with different model Rokus still with no luck. Maybe I have something set wrong. Using 10.8.10 server with the Latest Roku App.10.8. 10.8.1010.8.10 Hopefully someone has some insight, thanks! RE: Roku Default Audio Issue? - TheDreadPirate - 2023-08-31 This appears to be a known issue with the Roku app. https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-roku/issues/1277 RE: Roku Default Audio Issue? - gqneumann - 2023-09-01 Hmm, in their case it seems more along the lines of when they select a track, It plays the other track. In my case, it plays the proper track when manually selecting the tracks. So there’s no issue there, but it’s not playing the default track when I click to start the show. It always uses track 1 instead of the track that’s encoded as the default track. Maybe the Roku audio right now only allows for track 1 to always play first when starting the show? Maybe It doesn’t take inconsideration, there’s a default track which is the one that should be used? If that’s the case, I will have to re-encode all my videos to make track 1 the audio I want by default or else I have to manually select the audio every time, if I don’t want the audio that’s currently set as track 1. But considering the issue you linked to, that makes me believe maybe there are still some bugs with the Roku Audio tracks. So I might have to wait till it's addressed more. RE: Roku Default Audio Issue? - gqneumann - 2024-01-11 Incase anyone comes to this I finally found a fix for my situation. You have to deselect 'Play default audio track regardless of language' or else it plays track 1. You have to do it on the web/server client since you can't change it on Roku. My shows have English and Japanese, and I wanted English always for me as a user, so I just had to set my preferred audio language to English and deselect 'Play default audio track regardless of language' Then I didn't have to worry about which was track 1 anymore since it now always plays English. Here's where I figured it out... https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-roku/issues/1341 RE: Roku Default Audio Issue? - stephenshutters - 2024-02-02 (2024-01-11, 09:27 PM)gqneumann Wrote: Incase anyone comes to this I finally found a fix for my situation. Unfortunately, after unchecking that option and restarting my server, I am still having the exact same issue in February of 2024 (as documented here). RE: Roku Default Audio Issue? - esjaysee - 2024-02-03 Is the default track japanese by chance? RE: Roku Default Audio Issue? - stephenshutters - 2024-02-03 (2024-02-03, 12:01 AM)esjaysee Wrote: Is the default track japanese by chance? No, the default track was Russian. But I got so tired of the issue that I ended up using MKVToolNix to remove the Russian default audio track from the video file. I then updated my Jellyfin library with the new video file with only the English audio track. I tried watching it on my Roku TV again, and this time it just passed no audio whatsoever. It was silent. So I tried watching it with the Jellyfin iOS app on my iPhone, and it played just fine with audible English audio. This displayed that it was a problem occurring on the Roku end of things. I’ve since created a new thread in these forums about the continuation of the issue. |
