Jellyfin crashes because boot disk is full (Proxmox) - Infectftw - 2024-10-27

Hello together,

I'm using Jellyfin since around 4 months now.
It runs on a HP EliteDesk 800 G5 Mini PC with an Intel i5-9500T and 16GB RAM.
Proxmox (8.2.2) is my OS and the Jellyfin container got assigned 2 Cores, 2GB RAM and 8GB of space.
With this settings everything was perfect in the last 4 months.

Yesterday I watched a film and Jellyfin crashed.
In the container overview I've seen that the 8GB of space were nearly full (more than 95%).
I then went up to 20GB but it took around 15 minutes and it crashed again - the 20GB of space are full again.
I then went up to 30GB but it crashed again with the same problem.

I assume that the space fills because of transcoding but I would expect that it delets itself when you stop the film.

Does anybody know how to solve the issue?

Under dashboard>playback>transcoding, you can set "Delete segments: Delete old segments after they have been downloaded by the client. This prevents having to store the entire transcoded file on disk. Turn this off if you experience playback issues." There are also other setting under there, like "Trottle Transcodes" you might want to tweak

Hmm, where exactly can I find this?
Under dashboard>playback>transcoding I don't find anything which is related to this.

Currently my hardware acceleration is turned off (I assume this is the standard setting).
Should I turn it on with an Intel 9500t?
Nevertheless, even if a set hardware acceleration to Intel QuickSync I don't see something like "delete segments".

If hardware acceleration is turned off, transcoding will still occur. Just on the CPU. It will still write to disc.

The delete segments setting is in Dashboard > Playback > Transcoding, near the bottom. If you don't see that setting, I then I am assuming you are still on version 10.8.X. Since the delete segments setting was introduced in 10.9.
