Weird transcode/playback error with AMDGPU/RX 580/VA-API - skinkyvagabond - 2024-10-27

Ok, so I'm having a weird issue with VAAPI transcode playback through my RX580. I have VA-API setup and working properly (mostly) with the AMDGPU Pro drivers on Ubuntu Server 22.04. I can verify that VAAPI is working via radeontop and playback works perfectly, but only if I skip the first two seconds of the video. I've been using a Chromecast to test HEVC Main 10 > x264. If I cast to any of my Chromecasts, video will play for two seconds, then just sit and look like it's buffering, but never play. If I skip the first two seconds manually, playback works as expected. No buffering, no stutters, nothing. So far, this only occurs when trying to transcode HEVC to x264. Other than that issue, everything else is working just as it should. Anyone have any ideas?

Edit: Seems like this might be more of a Cast-specific issue. I just tried to stream HEVC > x264 on my old Nexus 7 tablet via the JellyFin app, worked like a charm.

Can you share the ffmpeg logs from the casting attempts? What resolution are the original videos?
