Has the format for images for season posters changed? - Nttell - 2024-10-29

I used to use Jellyfin as a metadata downloader, since I still mostly use Plex for playback. I really appreciated the fact that Jellyfin could save episode/season images in the media folders, so Plex could use those and I would have a backup of the images and any manual changes if Plex would ever go haywire (which has happened to me once before).

However, I noticed this week that apparently, now season posters (ie, season 1) are downloaded to the main folder asĀ /SeriesName/season01-poster.jpg instead of in the season folder itself as /SeriesName/Season 01/folder.jpg. This means that the format is now different than what Plex uses so I can no longer properly use this feature.

When did this change? I can't seem to find anything about it in the recent changelogs... I would really like to install a version that still uses the folder.jpg naming structure.

I believe it has been that way since 10.9.0. So you'd need to install 10.8.13.

In Jellyfin 10.9.5, the folder locations were changed. If you prefer the old paths, you can stick with Jellyfin 10.9.4 or earlier. Alternatively, you might want to try tinyMediaManager, which allows you to choose whether to save images in the season folder or the parent directory.
