Jellycon questions - kandykarter - 2024-10-29 Seeing as I'm being forced to abandon my beloved NATIVE MODE, I'm trying to figure out how to fill the gaps. I have a pretty heavily customized Kodi install with a lot of widgets and kind of "filters" to browse my very extensive movie collection. I've managed to mostly replicate my standard setup with Jellycon, but a few things seem seriously lacking and I'm wondering if there's any sneaky ways to achieve the things I'm trying to. First question: I tried to find some documentation about Jellycon's extensive settings menu to get some clarity about what some options DO, but I couldn't find any. Is there documentation, and if so, where can I find it? I'd love to know what things like "include people" do as nothing appears to change and it doesn't seem to allow me to browse by actor or director, or know more about the image cache options, simple new content check/intervals, etc. Like what's a "random movies interval"? Secondly, I made heavy use of Native Mode's ability to browse the library in less conventional ways, like browsing by Actor, or Director, or by Country. Is there any way to achieve this in Jellycon? It seems like I could build country-based collections, but that seems like a lot of work, and tags don't appear to be very evenly applied (not every movie from france has a france tag, for example). Third, is there any way to speed up the loading of data from Jellycon? In native mode, everything's instant, in Jellycon pages take 2-8 seconds on average to open. Fourth, what are custom widgets? How do I customize them? It seems like they're the same widgets listed in the Movies/TV libraries in Jellycon, so what exactly is custom about them? I'm sure more questions will crop up, thanks in advance for indulging me. If you open it and perform a local database reset, you'll be asked if you want to use native mode or addon mode, like when initially setting it up. Addon mode should be fine and, as far as I know (I'm still using native mode currently), it should work the same as it did in native mode, populating Kodi's own databases etc. so you can browse your collection in the way you're already accustomed to. It's just that when it comes to playing something, Kodi won't see the actual file anymore but will be served a link to stream the file via Jellyfin. Jellycon is no different there though. RE: Jellycon questions - kandykarter - 2024-10-29 Oh, weird. I thought addon mode was essentially just Jellycon, I don't know why I thought that. I'll give it a try, thanks. RE: Jellycon questions - kandykarter - 2024-10-29 Wow, I'm an idiot. I'd have switched a LOT sooner, but I was for some reason certain it'd mean using Jellycon, which seems to lack a variety of functions that are important to me. Feel free to ignore me, I'll be over here upgrading to 10.10. Thanks again! |
