Profiles switch? - cassios - 2024-10-31

Hello,

I would like to replace Plex with Jellyfin. I find Jellyfin to be more efficient than Plex, especially for transcoding.

But I am missing an important feature, which is the ability to switch between family users without having to enter the password each time.

A bit like we do with Plex.

Because on our television, we each have our own Plex profile with the children and we switch from one to another several times a day.

The best would be to completely copy the Plex concept which allows access with an account that gives access to several profiles and next to that other external accounts.

Is this in the planning for one of the next versions?

Thanks

What kind of TV do you have? Roku and AndroidTV both have user switching.

Nvidia shield TV.

But With Plex, a box with only one account, i can switch.

The switch user system on Plex and Netflix are very simple and efficient.

Jellyfin need this feature for families...

You only have to log in once. Once a user has logged in on the Android TV app, you can freely switch between users that have logged in.

Netflix/Plex is more simple, but we have an almost equivalent functionality.  Yes, every user has to login on the TV client.  ONCEThen you can freely switch as you would with Netflix/Plex.

As the admin, you should have all their passwords and you can login for them.
