the "Collections" view - monocle - 2024-11-04 How are things selected for "Collections"? I like the idea but not the default execution. If I search by genre, I find 30+ "Western" films. If I look in the "Western" category, there's just one. If I look in the "Musicals" category, I find eleven films, missing some major ones (like "Singin in the Rain"), but I also find "Little Shop of Horrors (1960)". That was turned into a musical, but is not itself a musical. After a little exploring I found out how "Add to collection" works (hint, don't try it on a collection, thinking you can select titles to add). Searching, clicking on titles, then using the "Add to collection" dialog is tedious. Is there any sort of bulk edit option? RE: the "Collections" view - TheDreadPirate - 2024-11-04 Jellyfin pulls down metadata from (I think) TMDB, which includes whether movies are part of a "collection". If two movies in your library are part of the same "collection", as defined by TMDB, they will be put into a collection together. This is usually for movies that are part of the same series. Like all of the John Wick movies, they would be put together in a collection. Or the Evangelion Rebuilds. If you've already scanned your library before enabling that setting, you should be able to just "Scan all libraries" from the dashboard home. It should create the collections. You should also consider installing the TMDB Box set plugin. This will improve this process, including pulling down collection images. RE: the "Collections" view - monocle - 2024-11-04 I have TMDB enabled. I certainly haven't changed it in a long time. (I started with Jellyfin maybe November last year, to put a cap on "long time".) Certainly is was configured this way before I added all the James Bond films, most of which are not in the "Cop/Detective/Spy" category. I see on TMDB there's a James Bond collection, but I didn't have one until I created it. I'm a little worried about "Scan all libraries". What happens to the mismatched stuff I've fixed. Eg, I have the Icelandic murder investigation in a frozen in town "Trapped", which for some reason was matched to an anime series with "Trapped" in the name. I was able to fix the matching, and remove some of the images, but I still have bad episode thumbnails. RE: the "Collections" view - TheDreadPirate - 2024-11-04 Jellyfin runs scans every 12 hours, by default. Unless you disabled that. It would only affect your misidentified media if you "replaced all metadata". |
