Purple & Green transcoding DOVI - jsancho - 2024-11-06 Hi, My JF server is an Orange Pi 5 Plus (Rockchip RK358 ![]() I have noticed that when transcoding a film encoded with Dolby Vision Profile, the image generated has a purple and green tint over it. Here are a couple of screenshots. The Paramount should be familiar enough to help notice how the colours are clearly off. The second scene has fires on the street and they are seen in a purple colour. https://imgur.com/a/iM5CRhO ![]() ![]() Here's the full media info Video Title: 4K HEVC Dolby Vision Profile 5 Codec: HEVC AVC: No Profile: Main 10 Level: 150 Resolution: 3840x1608 Aspect ratio: 2.40:1 Anamorphic: No Interlaced: No Framerate: 23.976025 Bitrate: 15046 kbps Bit depth: 10 bit Video range: HDR Video range type: DOVI DV title: Dolby Vision Profile 5 DV version major: 1 DV version minor: 0 DV profile: 5 DV level: 6 DV rpu preset flag: 1 DV el preset flag: 0 DV bl preset flag: 1 DV bl signal compatibility id: 0 Pixel format: yuv420p10le Ref frames: 1 When I play this content on an Amazon Fire Stick 4K Max, the colours show as expected, but in this case, this is using DirectPlay. When I play the content on Google Chrome, iOS/Android apps, Android TV, on which transcoding kicks in, I get these funny colours on the image. I had tone mapping configured with the default values, but I have also tried disabling it completely and the results are the same. Other content in 4K HVEC plays just fine, but I've noticed these files are all in SDR video range. The source of the problem might be elsewhere, but I thought this was a reasonable guess. Is transcoding of DOVI content supported on Rockchip? Is there something else that you recommend I should try? thanks ![]() RE: Purple & Green transcoding DOVI - TheDreadPirate - 2024-11-06 Do you have tone mapping enabled? RE: Purple & Green transcoding DOVI - gnattu - 2024-11-06 Rockchip hardware transcoding is not compatible with dolby vision due to rkmpp decoder limitations, unfortunately. RE: Purple & Green transcoding DOVI - nyanmisaka - 2024-11-07 Currently the Rockchip MPP decoder cannot parse DOVI metadata correctly. This may be fixed in the future. For now, it is recommended that you play HDR10/Profile 8 videos instead. I've been reading about Dolby Vision and see that Profile 8 has an HDR fallback for cross-compatibility, hence your recommendation as an alternative. Profile 5 is not currently supported by Rockchip, so I better avoid that for the time being. All in all, HDR10 is the safest bet ![]() Thanks very much for your quick replies! |
