Folder structure question / How to handle different Versions of shows - dakazze - 2024-11-07

I have been using Jellyfin for quite a while now but right now is the first time I want to add a directors cut of an anime season I already have and I dont know how to best handle the folder structure for correct meta data acquisition.

My example:
I have the BluRay for Re:Zero in my library: Show (year) / Season / Episode
Now I bought the directors cut of season 1 but I dont know how to add that to my library.

Do I make a separate show folder: Show Directors Cut (year) / Season / Episode
or is there a way to add different versions of a season to the main folder?

Read this walk through.

The result would look the same as versions of a movie.

Thanks a lot! This will be very helpful!

In the middle of renaming the new episodes I encountered an issue that has to be pretty unique...
This directors cut combines two episodes into one, so the episode count and episode name is not the same. In that case I guess it would be best to have an alternative season 1 folder, does that work?

However you want to handle it. Personally, I'd split a two episode director's cut, assuming there is a clean break in it, so I could use the "versions" function.

Yea the version feature really might be worth it when trying to curate a vast clean library.

Thank you again for the help!!
