PGS subs stop playing in the middle of the movie - altair21 - 2024-11-14
Hey folks,
I have a weird issue where in one specific file, jellyfin would just automatically stop showing any subtitles after a timestamp and its always the same, PGS subs otherwise are working perfectly, I'm not really sure how to debug this since despite debug being turned on, jellyfin is not logging anything when it plays the file (probably because its direct play?) and its an issue with just this file.
I have pasted the mediainfo below and would appreciate any help with this.

Try disabling PGS direct play. It is experimental and I'm wondering if the TV is the issue. This WILL result in transcoding, btw.
Settings > Subtitles > uncheck "Experimental PGS subtitle rendering"

will this leave video alone? i was kind of hoping to avoid transcoding at all, both to make sure my server (laptop in this case) isnt bogged down by transcodes and to avoid any loss in video quality since my TV can easily play it natively,
Specially after my last thread of disabling DV entirely XD

We are just verifying whether the experimental PGS subtitle rendering is the problem or the PGS track itself. If the issue occurs even while burning in, that eliminates the experimental PGS rendering as the problem.

There is a fix for libpgs-js in the upcoming 10.10.2, but not sure if it is related to your problem.
If it is not fixed, you can open a ticket on github and share a PGS (.sup) sample so that the developers can fix it.

thanks, I'll need to extract it from the file via ffmpeg right? I'll open an issue for it
