Upgrading to a QNAP NAS Jellyfin server - larsgregersen - 2024-11-18

I have been using a Raspberry Pi 4 as my Jellyfin server. It has worked nicely, but seems to be as the end of support for Jellyfin 10.10.

So I'm thinking about getting a QNAP TS-264 NAS to be used as Jellyfin server.

Does it work as a Jellyfin server?

Is it powerful enough to serve 4K videos with subtitles?

The "end of support" you are referencing is probably our dropping of ARM32 support.  However, the RPi4 has an ARM64 processor, which we will continue to support.  This means that RPi 3's and newer will continue to receive support for the foreseeable future.

Thanks
I have it another go today - and it worked.

The upgrade didn't work yesterday using 10.10.2, but 10.10.3 upgraded perfectly today.

You have saved me a lot of money! I really like my Raspberry Pi 4 server. It doesn't have the power to transcode anything or to add subtitles on the fly, but it uses less than 10 W.

If you had any M3U playlists in your library, there was a bug in 10.10.2 that caused issues during startup. 10.10.3 had a hotfix to get around that.
