Screen Grabber Makes Seasons Out Of Order - swaggycarl - 2024-11-18

I am running 10.9.11 on Windows and am new to Jellyfin. I set my original shows library to have no metadata and everything sorted just fine. I enabled screen grabber so that the show episodes would have images. That part worked but then a lot of my shows ended up out of order. Some were entirely duplicated as "Season Unknown" and some were jumbled in similar ways.

I tried unchecking screen grabber and rescanning and replacing images but it did not fix the ordering issue. The only way I could get the seasons to show the proper order again was deleting the library and making a new one without the screen grabber option checked.

I really like the screen grabber function and would love to use it. However, I don't know why it is messing up the order of things when it is active. It sorts just fine otherwise using no other metadata.

Thank you.

I'm on 10.10.2, so I can't do a 1-to-1 comparison. But I tested your scenario on my test instance and I couldn't replicate. Can you provide examples of your file and folder naming?

My file/folder structure goes like this:

Series Name (folder)
   -> Series Name S01 (folder)
      -> Episode.S01E01.mkv (file)

It works without any metadata boxes checked, but as soon as I try to use screen grabber it duplicates things and moves seasons around oddly. In the guide it does show that under the top folder it should just be Season 01 instead of Series Name S01, but it was working just fine with my structure before. I can try changing it quickly though if that could be the problem with screen grabber?

The season folder is the problem. Why it worked before, IDK. But the season folder should simply be "Season 01".

I changed the season folder to Season 01 and the problem still happened. Everything else remained the same. All I did was rename one of the problematic shows as instructed, marked the "screen grabber" option, and rescanned and fixed / replaced metadata.

Not really sure where to go from here. Is there any additional information I can provide that could help? Thank you for your assistance.

For the show you renamed the folder for, try removing the show's folder entirely from the library, "scan all libraries" to remove it from the database, then move it back and scan again. Sometimes metadata "sticks" and just won't change. Even with a "replace all metadata".

That worked! Thank you so much I never would have thought to do that. Very grateful
