Question On The Listed Hardware JF Recommends - Terrian - 2024-11-21 Hello. I read JF's extensive (and very helpful) page on recommended hardware (https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/administration/hardware-selection/) but am unclear on a point. It lists CPUs with integrated graphics that are recommended, but then further on it says not having a dedicated GPU is not recommended. ? I assume then they only included the iGPU CPUs knowing not everyone will get a discreet GPU? Or maybe I'm reading it all wrong? I need to keep server/power costs down to a minimum, so was considering something with an N series Intel and UHD 750, or if I don't go that route, a small HP DT with an i5-11400 or similar.-11 My needs are small. OTA channels from the roof antenna (to watch/record) and that's it. No streaming subscriptions, no Netflix etc. I do not have a 4K TV and will be the sole user, so would only be streaming one thing at a time. I also won't be using JF outside my home. (But I will be streaming to one of the 4 TVs in the home depending on which room I'm in.) Am I 'safe' with a general setup as described? (Will be installing Ubuntu/16GB RAM/SSD for OS/Raid 1 HDD for storage.) Thanks for any guidance. RE: Question On The Listed Hardware JF Recommends - Fate - 2024-11-21 That setup sounds reasonable. I would recommend an intel n100 based device. They are capable, low power and quite cheap as well. Basically integrated gpu are good especially from intel. But they have their limit. If you need multiple 4k streams with tone mapping you would need a dedicated gpu like intel ARC. What it means is that not having a GPU at all, neither integrated nor dedicated RE: Question On The Listed Hardware JF Recommends - Terrian - 2024-11-21 (9 hours ago)Fate Wrote: That setup sounds reasonable. Thanks for the clarification on the limits of iGPUs and where different needs might fall. Much appreciated. Wow... didn't think a computer could render anything at all without either. Like not even the boot screen. |
