Video playlists are empty - jtJellyUserNow - 2024-11-25
Server: Jellyfin server 10.10.0 on Windows 10 via installer.
Client: Firefox browser or Amazon Fire stick app
I've created playlist files "test.m3u", within are absolute file paths such as "C:\Videos\Movies\MovieName.avi".
I have a library in Jellyfin wihch includes the directory in which these m3u files exist. When I enter it, I see a playlist "test". When I go into it, it is empty (no banner/thumbnail, no media listed).
If anyone can help troubleshoot I'd appreciate it.

All the content I've tried to add exist in one or more libraries that are visible and accessible to the same user.

Can you upgrade 10.10.3? There were several playlist related fixes since .0.

I've updated to 10.10.3 via windows installer. No change- the playlists with audio are populated, the video playlists are empty.
I tried selecting a video from my TV library and using the "Add to playlist" menu option. It takes ~10 minutes to search (I have a lot of audio playlists included), but when I add to a new playlist there, then navigate to the new playlist, it too is empty.

Huh. Looks like video playlists via m3u's don't work. Not sure if that is a bug or an omission.

Are there other ways to create video playlists you could please point me to? I created collections but they don't offer my intended use case: playing a number of unrelated videos in sequence.

You can make playlists in Jellyfin and add movies/shows/episodes to them. Right click on the movie/show/episode or "..." context menu and "Add to playlist".

i mentioned above that adding to playlist that way doesnt work, either. i will post a bug report on the jf git page after the holidays if there is no other solution. thanks.
