Using a Wifi Range Extender - willyums - 2024-12-07 I have previously setup a Jellyfin server on my desktop, not using any external networking but only to watch with various devices around the home. I recently remodeled a room at the far end of the house and turned it into my new office, and found out that my Wifi signal was very poor in the room. I purchased a Wifi range extender which my desktop is now connected to, everything is wireless. Once that switched over, I wasn't able to access my Jellyfin server from any devices - even ones connected to the extended network. How can I fix this? Xfinity router (call it myNetwork) -> TP Link extender (myNetwork_EXT) -> Desktop SOLVED: my Desktop's local IP address changed when I connected it to the extender. Once I figured out the new IP address I was able to log in from my other devices both on my main network and the extended one. |
