After upgrade to 10.10.x, live TV remuxes - jonm - 2024-12-09

Watching live TV from tvheadend on JMP on my Mac. It used to start playback and change channels instantly on (I think it was) version 10.8.9.

Now I have updated the server to 10.10.1 (because 10.10.3 isn't yet available on Fedora) I see that playback takes about 10 seconds to start because ffmpeg is doing remuxing on the server.

How can I stop it doing this and go back to direct play? I'm not sure what changed that might be causing this, is it just some setting somewhere?

Thanks Smiling-face

I've attached an extract from the ffmpeg remux log to the original post. Can anyone tell me why the server needs to remux in this case, please?

If this is an M3U tuner, you can try go to the Tuner Settings and uncheck the "Allow stream sharing" option which may make this to direct play again.

Thanks, it's not an M3U tuner - I am using the tvheadend plugin.

As a test, I added the tvheadend channels as an M3U list and they play fine that way - so that's a workaround for the time being.

If that is the case I think you need to contact the maintainer of the tvheadend plugin to provide the same option. The repo is hosted here: https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin-plugin-tvheadend

Actually, it still works fine if "Allow stream sharing" is ticked.
Not sure what the plugin is doing differently.
