New to jellyfin setup questions - sarahtalbott - 2024-12-12
Hello i am trying to build a jellyfin media server and have some questions.
1. Will my hardware do the job. Athlon 200ge 2c/4t 3.9ghz, 8gb ram, 120gb ssd 2×4tb hdd.
2. Which os should i run. Ubuntu desktop or Server. I am not familiar with any of them as i am windows user.
3. In future if i want to add more storage how can that be done
I am new to this so any help is appreciated.

1. it will work with directplay, but transcoding will not be useful on that igpu. consider an intel n100 base
2. I would recommend proxmox then.
3a. buy more disks-> add in pairs-> setup via webgui
3b. ZFS 2.3 will allow zfs raid z expansion(eta early 2025). If you setup the initial two HDDs as zfs z1, you can expand by adding another disk and then resilver.
