4K Content Wont Play - lakinreid - 2024-12-15
Hi there, I recently got a 4k TV and starting loading up my server with 4k remux content. Though when I go to stream it, it takes about 15 seconds to load in, then pretty much refuses to play it. It'll play around 1-2 seconds before pausing again to buffer. I am currently playing it from the LG Jellyfin app on a LG C3, so maybe that's the problem? I'm going to be getting a Amazon 4k stick or similar here soon. Or would this be more of a bandwidth issue? There are no issues streaming my 1080p content, but any direct 4k playing doesn't work. I have copied a log from when I attempt to play said 4k content. My TV is connected through Wifi. Router is from the internet company, so I'm sure that doesn't help.. I'll be happy to provide any more info as needed! Thank you much in advance for reading/your help!

The video is Dolby Vision 7.6. This is not a compatible format for smart TVs of any kind. You'd need a client capable of software decoding the video.
DV 7.6 SHOULD be falling back to DV8 or HDR10, which are compatible with smart TVs, but this is a known bug with exoplayer that Google has not addressed.
Your options are to force video transcoding or convert your video to HDR10. I have a guide for doing the latter in the walkthrough/guide section.
