Migrating library from Windows to Linux - JRPGod - 2023-09-10

Hey all, nice fancy new forums!

So now that I have a 3rd machine operating at home I no longer feel the need to leave my server behind Windows and am going to chuck it over to Linux.

I know there's the migration script, but that's not really of much use to me since I will be using the same machine.

My question is, in my library currently under windows, I have all the metadata saved as NFOs alongside the media itself - If I just roll a fresh instance of Jellyfin once Linux is installed, and point Jellyfin to Linux, will Jellyfin preserve the metadata already contained in the NFOs (a lot of it has been touched by hand, especially in the comics) and just update the media paths, or will it attempt to rewrite the whole metadata?

Thanks in advance.

Hey @JRPGod

If you enable the NFO saver with your new library then yes, jellyfin will prefer the data from the NFO.
But remember that if you dont migrate your database the way the migration script does, you will lose Users, Settings and Watch status

Thanks for the reply!

Yeah I'm fine with losing those other things, concerned solely about the metadata in the NFOs.
