USB hard drive on router - hgdriver - 2024-12-19

I'm new to Jellyfin. It is the latest build running on an NVidia Shield (android). I have a 5T hard drive connected to a tp-link router which Kodi can access using a windows share. The shield is wired to the router.

router 192.168.0.1
shield 192.168.0.129
SMB is \\Tp-share\g

I'm stuck getting Jellyfin set up. When it asks for server address I have entered: 192.168.0.1, .129, and combinations of tp-share and tp-share/g but all I get is "cannot connect".

Probably pretty simple, but can someone point me in the right direction? Thanks

Doesn’t sound like you have the Jellyfin server running? You need that for anything to happen.

Is the Jellyfin app on the shield not the server?

Jellyfin on the Shield is a client that allows you to access media from a server. You'll need to set up a server first.
