How to get DolbyVision on WebOS?? - Sartana271 - 2024-12-22 I installed Jellyfin and heard it can be used to play MKV files in DolbyVision but no matter what I try I cannot get this to work and I tried multiple files. I have an NVidia GPU and enabled Nvdia NVENC in the transcoding section. Are there other settings that I need to enable? RE: How to get DolbyVision on WebOS?? - TheDreadPirate - 2024-12-22 What kind of Dolby Vision is it? It says it's 7.6 for both files on the Jellyfin app when I look at them on the TV. RE: How to get DolbyVision on WebOS?? - Host-in-the-Shell - 2024-12-22 From what I understand, LG TVs do not support DV 7 (at least recent models don't). I have two and neither can play it back, always requiring transcoding; since Jellyfin can't do HDR to HDR transcode, it tonemaps to SDR. Historically LG TVs have had not great support for DV altogether, and I believe profile 7 was never implemented all that well. Most new models have support for 5 and 8, but 7 is possible only on an mp4 container and without support for lossless audio on some select older models. Even 8 still requires an mp4 contrainer for newer televisions. I'm just trying to figure out how they did it as none of the posts really explained it too well. There is also Kodi that works for playing DV on LG but it's quite buggy. RE: How to get DolbyVision on WebOS?? - TheDreadPirate - 2024-12-22 DV7 is only supported by bluray players (something about licensing). Kodi on some devices can software decode DV7, but that requires a lot of extra setup. IMO, the easiest solution is to remove Dolby Vision altogether. Leaving you with plain HDR10, since DV7 is an enhancement of HDR10. https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-converting-dolby-vision-to-hdr10 RE: How to get DolbyVision on WebOS?? - Sartana271 - 2024-12-22 (Yesterday, 07:22 PM)TheDreadPirate Wrote: DV7 is only supported by bluray players (something about licensing). I did attach a screenshot of people on Reddit talking about DV working on jellyfin on webos on mkvs. It's not the only post online that claims that mkvs can be played in DV on webOS through Jellyfin. I tried Kodi and it worked for a couple of days until it didn't. I might just give up and enjoy HDR10 and not bother with DV. RE: How to get DolbyVision on WebOS?? - Host-in-the-Shell - 2024-12-22 Just to be clear, DV does work on WebOS with the Jellyfin app so long as the profile is 8 or 5; the screencap attached seems to be talking about DV 8 and DV 5 working, not 7. If you provide your TV model we could take a look at the specs and confirm what it does support, but as DP mentioned profile 7 has been mostly relegated to BluRay players or similar external hardware devices. Is it easy to convert DV profile from 7 to 5 or 8? I know people use Dovi tool. Does it take long to convert and is it possible to do that to play DV through Jellyfin on LG? RE: How to get DolbyVision on WebOS?? - Host-in-the-Shell - 2024-12-22 I haven't done so myself since all my movies are already dual DV8.1 & HDR10, so I can't comment on the matter, but here's an idea of where to start with LG TVs in mind. |
