Solved: Jellyfin MacOS Client Not Working in Sequoia 15.2 - Jolga77 - 2024-12-24

Admittedly, it is more of a workaround but it did the trick for me.

I couldn't get the JF client to load after the install in Sequoia 15.2 on my MacBook Air M2.  Tried many things including going back several versions, but no joy.

Did some research, apparently, instead of using the client app you can access and play all your media through a web browser. You just need to input your JF server address from your host machine. In my case (A new ThinkPad in Windows 11 connected to a fiber optic Huawei router.

For the life of me I tried enough IP addresses, that I found suggested on the web, to make my head spin. All to no avail.

Then I remembered that when I installed the JF client on my 2 Android tv's the install wizard gave me my real, actual Jellyfin server IP. I went to my android tv and uninstalled the client.  Fired up the install wizard and voila! My Jellyfin address. Don't worry about uninstalling and reinstalling the android client, it takes 1 minute to download and reinstall from the play store, it's child's play.

I went back to My MacBook Air, typed in that Ip address and could see all my media and watch anything from my ThinkPad JF server. No stuttering, perfect sound, all the goodness of Jellyfin <yessssss>!

Hint: DO NOT USE HTTPS! USE HTTP only when you type in your newly found Ip address. An encrypted connection will cause grief on your JF server and will not work on your client.

Disclaimer: I am far from a Jellyfin Guru, just a novice, one-month user, so there are probably much better ways of getting the JF Client to load or finding a true JP working Ip address.  If so, please put post them here so we can all benefit.  If no one chimes in then no problem, try this, and hopefully it will work for you too.
