Cheap and easy to use client hardware? - dakazze - 2024-12-25

Hey!
I am currently looking for a cheap and easy to use client device that can be hooked up via HDMI and has its own remote for an older family member.
The only thing the device has to be able to do is play transcoded video at a max of 35 Mbits 1080p and be easy to use.

I would appreciate your recommendations!

My 90 year old Dad is now using the Google Chromecast with Google TV, plugged into an older Samsung TV, and he loves it. The Jellyfin app is available in the Google Play Store.  As far as limiting Mbits, that can be done per user in the user record.

I gave my parents the Onn Google TV 4K Streaming Box from Walmart.. $20. Dirt cheap and has it's own remote. Has been pretty reliable for them.
