John Wayne movies are missing John Wayne - Kolinahr - 2024-12-31
All of my John Wayne movies are missing John Wayne as a person. Refreshing metadata does not help. When I manually add John Wayne as an actor it appears to be added, but when I return to the meta data for the movie, his name is not there. This is also true if I add him with his given name "Marion Robert Morrison". I can however add any other random name such as "John Doe". It appears as though Jellyfin is deleting all references to John Wayne. This remains true even if I add John Wayne to a movie that he was not a part of.
The first time I tried adding Marion Robert Morrison I got access to the John Wayne person page with his photo and all. Then it was summarily and automatically deleted just like John Wayne.
This problem does not affect any other actor on any other movie in which John Wayne did not appear.

Are you using NFOs for metadata? Do you have any metadata provider's besides TMDB or TVDB?

OK, I fixed it. Funny how that happens when you give up on a problem.
I didn't realize I could get to the John Wayne page by entering the name in the search bar. I did that and examined his metadata. What I found was that in the name field the was "John Wayne S III" whoever that is. I edited the field to reflect "John Wayne" and all the problems went away.
I don't know how and why this affected this entry so dramatically. I would love to hear an explanation.

III — The Movie Database (TMDB), most famous for the Ebony Hustle, an ex-stripper turned detective, series of movies. Seems like somehow that profile got mucked up with John Wayne the actor in your system. Mismatches happen occasionally. Glad it is resolved.
