Problems after re-installing on Synology - soze - 2025-01-05

I installed the SynoCommunity version on my DS420+ a while ago and it didn´t do well due to RAM issues.
After upgrading the RAM I would like to give it another try.

The NAS is recognized, but instead of the startup wizard I just get a login.
The old user/password combination is not valid with this install.

I uninstalled again and SSH-ed into /volume1/@appdata/jellyfin , because I thought there might be leftovers from the previous install, but it was empty.
Are there other places credentials are stored?

Right now I´m running jellyfin on my Windows PC. Might this cause problems?
I did shut the windows version down, before starting up the Syno-version.

The local IP of the NAS changed since the first install.
The old NAS was shown to me first , but it did find the new one.

I run DSM 7.2.2.

Thanks for your help

Why not try running the official Jellyfin image using Docker?
The nice thing about Docker containers is that they create an environment that's isolated from the rest of your system, so a new container for Jellyfin will not have to deal with your issues regarding left-over files from an old install.

You can see my guide for that here: https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-guide-running-jellyfin-in-synology-s-dsm-7-using-docker-compose

Yes, this could work as well now after upgrading the RAM. Smiling-face

But I thought the Jellyfin-App in the Community section of the Synology Packet-Center was the "offical" Jellyfin App for Synology.
I would just like to know how to access this again, as the "old" login doesen´t work and the jellyfin folder is empty.

Thanks again

Clear your browser cache and try accessing the new docker instance again.

You need to link a 3rd party repo to your Synology app store to access that in the first place, so SynoCommunity is already a 3rd party in relation to Synology.

SynoCommunity just grabs the official Jellyfin release and makes their own release with it.

It's only official in your eyes because SynoCommunity makes a release for Synology, but you can't get more official in terms of Jellyfin than using Docker to run it on the NAS.
