    Got it. So traffic comes through Nginx, hits the JF box, traverses the f2b chain, and returns because it doesn't match anything. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why the traffic isn't matching ...

    Fair enough; so this implies that packets are hitting are hitting the chain and then not matching any of the rules. Any idea as to how I might diagnose what's happening?
