Thread: Transcoding failing when watching on Roku
Post: RE: Transcoding failing when watching on Roku

It's on my OS drive, which has about 400 GB free. But it's also randomly started working again, so I don't even know what to think now.

Post: Transcoding failing when watching on Roku

When some videos transcode to burn in subtitles for playback on Roku, the playback sometimes fails to start, with the message "There was an error retrieving the data for this item from the server." Th...

      Thread: Wrong info/metadata of episodes
Post: RE: Wrong info/metadata of episodes

By default Jellyfin doesn't use IMDB for metadata retrieval. Metadata by default comes from TMDB, which for whatever reason considers Spark of Rebellion and The Siege of Lothal to be specials, rather ...

Is there a list anywhere of which subtitle formats each client can direct play? The documentation seems to only mention which sub formats each container format supports.

Try adding tmdbid tags to the file names - Deathly Hallows part 1 would have [tmdbid-12444] and part 2 would have [tmdbid-12445].

There's a scheduled task to rescan the library - it runs every 12 hours by default, but you can change that up to every 15 minutes

Thread: ESPN 30 for 30 soccer stories
Post: RE: ESPN 30 for 30 soccer stories

You should be able to add a tvdbid or tmdbid tag to the folder names - so for soccer stories you would rename the folder to "30 for 30 Soccer Stories [tvdbid-350658]" or "30 for 30 Soccer Stories [tmd...

After further investigation, I have identified the difference - the encoding level. It looks like every file that fails is encoded at level 5, and every file that works is encoded at level 3 or 4.

This isn't an option in this case because the subtitle tracks are .ASS styled subs, which MP4 does not support. I could conceivably burn them in, but I'd really prefer not to go that route.
