That is odd. Every reference I can find says that the default trickplay location should be with the metadata - though I don't see it specified in the official documentation.
Are you able to identify a unique folder/directory where the trickplay images are being stored? The actual trickplay images are .jpg files that you should be able to open with any image viewer, and when opened you should see a grid of images (most likely 10x10) from whatever show the trickplay images have been extracted. The directory structure may include a "trickplay" folder or folders that end with ".trickplay".
If you are able to identify a unique parent folder that contains all of the trickplay content (and nothing but the trickplay content) then you should be able to move that folder to your desired location on your D: drive, and then create a symlink from the original location on your C: drive to the new location on your D: drive. I'm guessing this is how you already moved your Jellyfin metadata?
