Just updated Jellyfin and can't get my Live TV channels playing anymore through either the web or JMP (1.10.1).
The web-ui offers a "fatal error" prompt but JMP just appears to abort. ErsatzTV log just reads "Starting HLS session for channel 1".
This is a pastebin of my jellyfin log https://pastebin.com/WuBc3b9p

This looks like a driver bug. But also, why is it transcoding? Its going from H264+AAC to H264+AAC. Do you have live TV configured to always transcode?

Thanks for the assistance. I figured it was a long time coming and wiped my C:, default Jellyfin settings and default ersatztv channels set up. Live TV works but 1080p stuff transcodes (video's bitrate exceeded limit) although a 480p old show on another channel was Direct Playing just fine. I went to (client) settings > Playback and set the limits to 120mbps but it still transcodes the 1080p stuff. Any ideas very much appreciated.

You don't have any global bit rate limits?

Does transcoding work for local content?

10.9.3 added a bitrate cap for livetv due to compatibility reasons. But that rate might be too conservative and we are relaxing that. You can stay at 10.9.2 if you don't want it to be transcoded. There will be more compatibility patches for LiveTV in 10.9.4

Is that a hard cap or a configurable cap?

Hard cap. Because a configurable cap means an API change. Currently at 20Mbps, and will be relaxed to 30Mbps in next version.

I can confirm this is affecting me too. 480p atsc streams are direct playing fine while 1080p live tv is not. This is in the usa with an hdhomerun and tvheadend tuner. I believe that the atsc 1 channels are 19mbps. So im not sure why this would affect me...

Also to note. Even though I have disabled transcoding live tv in the android tv app (v0.16.11). Its remuxing if I remove transcoding rights at the user level and its transcoding anyways with the default options. This isn't new. I just used vimu to direct play in the past instead of exo player. Now I get "cannot play this type of video" from vimu.

I might have to downgrade for now but would love to help if testing is needed. This version of jellyfin rocks overwise! lots of other small issues i had look to be resolved!

After another (compulsive) fresh install, 1080p content now Direct Plays on 10.9.7 on JMP (wahoo!). Web player still transcodes and from the Media Info box looks like a 20mbps cap is still set. All JF / ErsatzTV settings are default, anything other than the default MPEG-TS wrapper on the channels seems to result in a transcode.
