I've noticed on my jellyfin app when playing video with 5.1 audio tracks the sound is noticeably quieter on my stereo speakers / headphones. I've enabled the downmix to stereo option with one of the downmix algorithms but it didnt change anything. I also tried setting the audio to be stereo instead of auto and it didnt work. In the information settings while playing media it says there are 6 audio channels when playing 5.1, so its not doing anything.

Im on windows so I cant really use any alternative clients / players like some other posts have suggested. My current solution has been to just up the volume. Is there anything I can do to fix it? Thanks

ps. Also on mobile setting the external player to VLC fixed the issue. But obviously I cant do that on windows. Thanks

If the client is direct playing the audio, the down mix algorithm and audio boost isn't applied. Only when the audio is transcoded.

Movies are mastered way differently than TV shows/Anime/Youtube. Much much more dynamic range. Quiet dialogue and super loud explosions.
