    Hi,

according to https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/movies it is possible to add a file "theme.mp3" as an extra (theme song) to a movie. Is this only valid for that specific use case or can multiple different audio files be added as extras to movies and shows (e.g. audio-only interviews or music)?

If so, are all audio file formats supported as in music libraries or are there restrictions?

I remember trying to add a *.mka file as extra some time ago and it didn't work. When I renamed the file to *.mkv it worked and was shown as extra and was playable in the client but it gave error messages in Jellyfin log for processes that don't expect *.mkv files without video track (e.g. trickplay image extraction).

Hello. I came across your post searching for answers to that same question. I also wanted to add audio files (audio interviews, mainly) to my library. I can share what I have found by trail and error. The short answer is "you can't".

    1. The theme music audio files are only designed to play while you browse your library.
    2. Pure audio files (m4a, mp3, e.g.) in other folders are ignored by the JF server and will simply not appear in your library.
    3. I have had some success putting the audio files in an mp4 video container. They will then show up in your library but they will only play in some clients. In my browser (Safari) however I get "no valid file found".
    4. Add to the video contained a still image as a video track (1 fps works) works more reliably in all the JF clients I use.
    5. In the case of movies, I've also added audio interviews as extra audio tracks in my movie video file, so they optionally play over the movie video.

I hope this helps and would like to hear of any other solutions others may have found.
