    Hi!

Ive had this "problem" since day one. I have an ASUSTOR  with Jellyfin installed. A NAS. I added a some new folders into a new library and the system scanned it no problem. At least according to Jellyfin. In libraries in settings my  new folder is shown. But when im out on the main screen where you choose what media to be played it doesnt show up at all.

My initial libraries took forever to show up as well for some reason, but when i set it all up it were no issue to wait since it was all new to me. It doesnt help rescan libraries. It doesnt help rescanning metafiles. Sooner or later it will show up, but i dont understand the process of when...

Is there annything i can do to speed up the process of Jellyfin showing my libraries?

I love Jellyfin to bits, so im willing to live with it. PLEX can go sleep forever.

How do you have Jellyfin installed? Docker? What model Asustor NAS? Can you share your jellyfin logs via pastebin?

ASUTOR uses ADM (Their own OS) and Jellyfin is available there. I have a AS5202T with latest 4.3.1.R752 version. And version 10.9.8.r01 installed of Jellyfin. This "issue" has been on any version of ADM ive used and any version of Jellyfin. I dont know what causes it or how to fix it.

How do i find Jellyfin logs? Any specific ones you want me to share?

You can access the logs in your dashboard.  Logs are near the bottom of the left panel.  log_20240911.log

Part of the problem is probably just the specs of your system.  A dual core Intel Gemini Lake CPU with, I'm assuming, 2GB of RAM.  I'm also assuming that Jellyfin is running on a hard drive.  Each of these is not ideal.

A couple of things you can do to speed things up.  In your library settings, did you enable trick plays and chapter image extraction?  If so, did you also enable generating trickplays and extracting chapter images on library scan?  If yes to either, you should disable both of them for now.

The NAS has internal storage for its OS and apps (eMMC,  bust still). My media is on a RAID1 with two NAS-graded 3.5" 16tb drives and the system runs 4k  without issues. RAM is also 8gb SODIMM (upgraded). But good enough for my usecase.

It plays my media without issue, but its just adding new folders in existing libraries or adding a new library entirely takes days to show up and i have no clue why. But they show up in my settings. It has even scraped some pictures from movies/shows.

Attached picture 1 is from dashboard settings for libraries. Second picture is what you would se on your TV.

    EDIT: Trickplays are not enabled

How is your media shared with Jellyfin? I'm not sure how that works in Asustor. Are they just directly accessible by the Jellyfin "container" (or whatever Asustor does)? Or is it like a network share or something?

Also, what is that "Folders" entry on the TV? Is that "unsorted 2".

ADM is linux based. Im not that familiar with the specifics more than its a NAS with media functionality built in/around it. Most likely directly accessible. When adding folders i can see the rest of the NAS root file system as well.

That "folder" is only visible for the admin user. None of the other uses in Jellyfin can see that. It just seems to be a part of the folder structure. I dont know. Inside it, it has all the other folders where my media is at.

What metadata provider is the primary for your libraries, if any?

And what kind of libraries are these?  They all say "Other".  The only libraries I have with "Other" are my collections and my liveTV recording libraries.  I don't see an option for "Other" in the library drop down.

Were you able to retrieve your logs?

I might have figured it out. And im a big dumbdumb. A new library needs new access control... So while the system has found everything and scraped stuff; i cant see it since i havent given myself access to it. Youre allowed to laugh Smiling-face

Sorry for wasting your time haha!

I do  have a bug to report regarding that. When i try to edit users "Library access" i get an error message (see attached). But when i create a new user it works fine. Is there any alternative way to edit access control?

But does that console error message prevent you from editing a user's library access?
