I've got Jellyfin set up as I want it on my PC as a server and it works great watching and also streaming to my android phone.

However, now I'd like to also watch on another PC in the same network and mainly due to laziness I was wondering if I could use the "cast" option that I see in the top right corner of the app and in the browser and then control (mainly play and pause) from my phone?

I can't find much on this "cast" option, and this comment on reddit makes it sound like I'd need to add a layer of a client, e.g. Kodi, in order to do this?

    Is that true?

    Both PCs use Linux Mint.

    Thanks!

    Edit:

Apologies, there must have been something wrong with my connection earlier, because now I can select the other PC via the Cast option, and I can play, pause, etc. from my phone. So I'm happy Smiling-face still curious what that reddit comment was talking about then.

Glad you got it sorted! It sounds like the person commenting on Reddit was just unfamiliar with the “cast” feature included in Jellyfin. We had a lot of issues with people providing straight up wrong information on the subreddit… which is part of the reason this forum now exists!
