    Android TV direct play freezing

Using the jellyfin app direct playing a file freezes.

    Hello all.

I was at my mom having set up jellyfin on her android tv. Using the jellyfin app direct playing Hot Fuzz in 1080p it will freeze for up to 5 seconds constantly. This is with the bitrate set to 120 Mbps.
If I change it to auto, the video gets transcodet, a known issue, and doesn't freeze at all.

I can't fathom why it occurs really. Changing subtitles around doesn't change anything.

Running jellyfin 10.9.4 on windows 10 with quick sync enabled and working.

I will share transcoding logs if needed, when I am at a computer.

    Thank you very much!

What's the bitrate of the original file and whats the bitrate it's transcoding to?

It's possible that during direct play the bitrate is simply to high for your internet upload, causing the freezing.

It is transcoding to 6,2 Mbps. Wouldn't the bitrate be the same wether it is direct playing or transcoding? And do you have any tip to see the bitrate when direct playing, as it does not show up in jellyfin.

I doubt that the bitrate is too high. I know it might not mean much, but it can easily okay 4k Netflix and 4k transcodet jellyfin. But not 1080p direct play? Seems odd to me.

If you click "Media Info" on the movie in jellyfin it will tell you the details about the movie, inc codecs/bitrate

Basing the bitrate for media with resolution is flawed. It's entirely possible to create 4K videos with less bitrate than one with 1080p (or even 720p).

Are your videos BD remuxes? Those have really high bitrates which most TVs might have problems playing until the video is transocded into a lower bitrate.

You state that you can't direct play, but you can play it when transcoded. That does sound like the video may have a higher bitrate than what the TV or network can handle.

Could you share your server logs? Both the normal system & ffmpelogs would be fine.
